As I’ve aged my erections are not as big or as rigid as they used to be. I can still get hard and am able to enjoy my orgasms. A few years ago I started taking Levitra. While it works well for me I have to make sure I time things correctly. At my last physical I asked the doctor about Cialis. It is supposed to last a lot longer so timing isn’t supposed to be an issue. I’ve tried it five or six times and it doesn’t seem to have any effect on my hardness. In fact, it almost has the opposite effect. I’m wondering if any other seniors on ST have had these issues. I haven’t tried Viagra but I understand it is about the same as Levitra. Would love to hear from others.

When Viagra became the rage in the late 1990s, my wife luckily worked in a urology office and the drug reps handed samples out like candy. It was an open secret that few of these samples ever made it into the hands of patients because the docs and staff were using them up.
Anyway I tried Viagra even though I was in my late 30s-early 40s and didn’t need it. I just thought in terms of enhancement. It did give me raging hard ons but also made me feel a little funny. And the feeling of stimulating my cock felt a bit off. When Cialis came on the market I liked it better because the effects lasted a lot longer and I didn’t feel as funny. This time it was, and still is, like a magic potion. Prescription instructions say to take approximately 45 minutes before sexual activity but I find that two hours is best. A rock fucking hard cock at 64 feels very good indeed. There no longer is a weird feeling, and now I swear by it.
So yes, timing of sildenafil is an issue compared to the long lasting Cialis, but luckily I have lots of time on my hands. It works fabulously, and all generics I’ve tried are as good as the original. A second or third erection after the first orgasm is common, and even though the major direct effects wear off after five hours or so, even twelve or more hours later I’m still more likely to get erections than without it.
Beautifully, research is increasingly showing that sildenefil decreases the risk of some kinds of dementia. It apparently has the same dilation effect of blood vessels in the brain as it has on the blood vessels that feed erections. ( An interesting experiment would be to test its effects on cognitive function because theoretically the increased brain blood flow should make the mind work better.)
For this reason I’ve started taking what I jokingly call ‘recreational Viagra’ on most nights. In younger days this would have been an intolerable, frustrating experience, but now I really enjoy it whether I cum or not.
Bottom line: for me, Viagra is great! My advice is start with lower doses, increase dose if needed, and use it consistently. I have tried all 3 of them. Like you I didn't have any success with Cialis & I would agree that Viagra & Levitra work about the same. Even with them I still don't get as hard & as stiff as I used to and I don't always manage to cum. Most of my orgasm's are dry too, rarely does any semen come out and if it does it just leaks out and runs down my shaft. I don't spurt anymore.

I tried Cialis and Viagra. I was in my late 40s and I took Viagra just for the feeling. I fucked the wife and for some reason, I lasted more than normal. It was great fuck. @65 I finally wound up on a blood pressure med. 2.5mg of lisipro something or other. I’ve successfully used Sildenafil/viagra for several years for more robust hard ons.

In my early 60s, erections became a big issue for me. I could often get hard but not be able to sustain it when having sex. Viagra was expensive so I ordered inexpensive sildenafil online which was sent from India. Wow! That was a sex saver. Early usage tended to cause a headache and a funny feeling in my body but damn, my erections were as hard as when I was a teen. I am 71 and I still get hard without the use of ED meds, but find that the erection is more difficult to maintain, so I have tried both Viagra and Cialis. Viagra worked great - super hard and could maintain (this was all during masturbation) but I did get headaches and had a bit of a blue shift in vision so stopped using that. Cialis works great! Erections last and the effective time after taking one lasts a couple of days. No headaches or other bad effects.
Again, I use these to enhance my erections for masturbation as the wife's sex drive faded a number of years ago.

My doc told me that I deserve to be happy and fulfilled, and suggested trying Tadalafil.
That has worked very effectively for me. I found it to be long lasting and I have not experienced any side effects. The Tadalafil is very complimentary to my BP med, as confirmed by my doc.
My doc knows that this is for my own self pleasure, and has been very helpful and supportive.
I found that one dose has lasting effects for 2-3 days. That does not mean that I have an erection for that length of time. It only assists with an erection when I am stimulated. It also helps maintain the erection longer. I have appreciated that I feel much thicker when soft, as well.
While individual results may differ between people, this works well for my needs and pleasures. I enjoy my interests in sex, and respecting my wife's disinterest, I can take care of myself and enjoy self pleasure.

I just used it last night and had no issues. I will say that sometimes i get the headache and sinus pressure but not last night.
